  • Dr. Greg MacKenzie

    General Dentist

    Dr. MacKenzie was born and raised in Saint John, New Brunswick. He studied biology at Dalhousie University and graduated in 1984. He continued his studies at the Dalhousie Dental School and received his DDS in 1988. He practiced dentistry in Kingston, Ontario after he graduated. In 1990, he moved to Halifax to practise and has been here ever since.

    Dr. MacKenzie is an active member of the Canadian Dental Association, Faculté for Orthodontic Research and Continuing Education Study Club, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, International Congress of Oral Implantologists (Fellowship Status), and the International Team for Implantology (ITI).

    He has a special interest in orthodontics and was in the Canadian International Straight Wire Orthodontic Study Club from 1999 to 2004. He’s a Gold-Certified Invisalign provider - a recognition of his skills and expertise in Invisalign treatment for crooked and misaligned teeth.

    Dr. MacKenzie is an active member of the community and has a wide range of interests and activities outside dentistry. He completed the Canadian Securities Course (Honours) at the Canadian Securities Institute in 2001. He has been an active member of the Masonic Lodge since 1995. He has volunteered as a coach with Bedford Minor Hockey coach. He’s also a member of the Tridents Navy Triathlon Team, and he has completed several Sprint and Olympic distance triathlons in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Quebec.

    Dr. MacKenzie and his wife have a daughter and three sons. He enjoys downhill skiing, cycling, kayaking, and playing jazz/blues guitar.

  • Dr. Russell MacSween

    General Dentist

    Dr. Russell MacSween has practiced dentistry in Halifax since his 1991 graduation from Dalhousie Dental School. There he was the 1990 Table Clinic Winner, co-editor of the Dalhousie Dental Journal, member of the Dalhousie Dental Student Council, and participated in After-Hour Emergency Service. Dr. MacSween later taught at the Dalhousie and has been a Standardized Patient for the Dental School since 1998. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Acadia.

    As a member of the NS Dental Association, Dr. MacSween was the 2003 AIO Study Club Co-coordinator. He is also a member of the Halifax County Dental Society and was published in the International Journal of Prosthodontics, "The Dimensional Accuracy of 12 Impression Materials and Die Stone Combinations," pg. 169, Vol. 2:199.

    Dr. MacSween is an avid traveller and enjoys basketball and golf. He coached the Bedford Eagles basketball team and has been a Beaver Leader of 1st Birch Cove. Dr. MacSween has two children.

  • Dr. Scott MacLean

    General Dentist

    Dr. Scott MacLean has a keen interest in all types of dentistry including implants, orthodontics, and general dentistry. A 1991 Dalhousie Dental School graduate and valedictorian, he was a multiple scholarship winner and a student leader. He now teaches dental implants at Dalhousie. Dr. MacLean also lectures internationally at dental conventions on implants, crown and bridge, and dental technology use such as laser and photography. He authored a monthly "Internet for Dentists" article in the Canadian Dental Association's Journal (JCDA).

    Dr. MacLean was 2004 president of the Nova Scotia Dental Association (NSDA), chair of Clinical Practise and Specialist Relations Committees and on their Governing Council. He has been a member of the Canadian Academy of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics, Academies of Esthetic Dentistry and General Dentistry, International Congress of Oral Implantology, American Academy Cosmetic Dentistry, and the Atlantic Implant Study and International Association Orthodontics Study Clubs. He was 2001 president of the Halifax County Dental Society and on the NS Dental Technicians Examining Board.

    Dr. MacLean was the administrator of the Atlantic Dental Listserv, on the organizing committee for the 2000 Canadian Dental Association convention, and enjoys taking continuing education courses to keep his knowledge current.

    He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree at Acadia University in Wolfville, NS, where he was an all-star on the national championship football team leading to an induction into the Acadia Sports Hall of Fame. Dr. Scott, as his patients call him, has three children – Alex, Haley, and Emily – and enjoys computers, woodworking, and digital photography. He has coached hockey and soccer and is a golfer – in need of improvement.

  • Dr. Aurelien Mallaisy

    General Dentist

    Dr. Aurelien Mallaisy grew up in the north of France. He graduated from the University of Dental Medicine of Reims (France) in 2012, and caried on with a post-graduate degree from the dental faculty of Paris in 2013.

    He has been practicing general dentistry ever since : first in France, until 2018 when he moved to Canada with his wife and son, then in Quebec for three years, and for the last two years in Nova Scotia.

    Passionate about dentistry, and very attentive to his patients, Dr. Mallaisy knows how to put them at ease, and relies on his experience to provide them with high quality care.

    He enjoys all aspects of dentistry, and offers a full range of treatments, from basic treatments to more complex treatments such as root canals or wisdom tooth extractions.

  • Dr. Aness Assafeen

    General Dentist

    Dr. Assafeen received his Canadian Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2019, initially receiving his DDS in Syria in 2014. Dr. Assafeen is known for his outstanding patient care, making sure that he listens to his patients needs and concerns. “Complete dentistry has a lot to offer and can be tremendously beneficial to improve people’s quality of life, thorough discussion with patients, examination and planning is what Dr. Assafeen adheres to. 

    Aness is a progressive dentist and has attended many training programs to provide the best outcomes to his patients, from the latest root canal and implant technology to Invisalign and Nitrous (laughing gas) sedation. He is also a member of the Seattle and Dawson study clubs.

    Dr. Maclean welcomes Dr. Assafeen to the Trimac family, and both enjoy working together to achieve excellence in dentistry.

    Outside of dentistry, Aness is a very active person, he enjoys going to the gym and playing tennis. Aness believes that the right mindset comes from a healthy lifestyle including, spiritual, relationships and physical activity. Aness also values spending time with family and friends. 

    Dr. Aness provides many treatments from surgeries to Endodontics and Invisalign.

    He has attended post-dental school root canal training, and enjoys advanced cases. Aness has a calm and caring disposition, and is able to put those anxious with dental treatment, at ease.

    Two years general practitioner in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia from 2019-2021. Then moved to Halifax to work at Trimac Dental Centre.

    Post-dental a year training on surgery at the university hospital.

    Intense surgery training on implant placement and restoring through MIT program.

  • Dr. Brandon Lee

    General Dentist

    Dr. Brandon Lee, a dedicated dentist, was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. He pursued his passion for science and engineering, earning a degree in Material Science and Engineering from Seoul National University in 2005. Dr. Lee then pursued his interest in dentistry, completing his DDS at the Dental School of Seoul National University in 2009.

    With a drive for patient care, Dr. Lee established his own clinic, where he honed his skills and built a reputation for excellence over 10 years in South Korea. Through his extensive experience, he developed a strong confidence in various dental procedures.

    In 2022, Dr. Lee passed the equivalent process to practice dentistry in Canada and obtained his license. He initially practiced as a general practitioner in Vancouver for two years before relocating to Halifax.

    Dr. Lee’s passion for patient communication led him to embrace intraoral photography as a tool to engage and educate his patients, often leaving them pleasantly surprised by the intricate details of their own teeth.

    Committed to providing the best possible care, Dr. Lee continually seeks to expand his skills through various training courses, including Invisalign, wisdom tooth extraction, the latest root canal treatments, and even Botox administration.

    Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Lee is a devoted father to four wonderful sons, cherishing every moment spent playing and bonding with them.
